We are proud to announce that four of our yachts have been nominated as finalists in The ISS Awards 2023. On 26 October in Fort Lauderdale, we will find out if COME TOGETHER, LA DATCHA, ENERGY and GENE CHASER are crowned winners of their category.

Hosted by the International Superyacht Society (ISS), these awards were created in 1990 to call attention to the outstanding achievements in the design and construction of large yachts. This year, the eligibility criteria for the awards allowed yachts built and delivered between 2020 and 2022 to be considered. The judging process is rigorous and thorough, with a panel of experts carefully evaluating each finalist on elements such as external appearance, interior design, craftsmanship, design practicality and technology.

Four superyachts announced finalists in The ISS Awards 2023

Exciting line-up confirmed for Explorer Yachts Summit 2023 

The recent news stating the Damen Shipyards Group’s pursuit to sue the Dutch government for the losses that have occurred as a result of the Russian sanctions does not concern any superyachts currently with Damen Yachting.

After the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the government imposed sanctions against Russia and Belarus. We support these sanctions and strictly comply with them. The lawsuit actioned by the Damen Shipyards Group relates to the Damen Shipyards Group being unable to deliver a number of orders and to draw attention to the fact that the consequences of the sanctions are fully classified as entrepreneurial risk by the government and that there is no form of compensation, as has been the case with Covid, for example.

At this stage no further comment will be made.

Statement re Damen Shipyards Group Lawsuit

The first Amels 80 [https://www.amelsyachting.com/fleet/amels-8001] is afloat! Measuring 80 metres (261 feet) in length, the new hull and superstructure was seen outside of her hull build shed for the first time since the concept was introduced in March 2022. She will now journey to our shipyard in the Netherlands for final outfitting.

This next-generation Amels Limited Editions, and the first of the most recent designs to be introduced, is on track to be delivered to her new Owner in 2025. Since selling the yacht exactly one year ago, the team at Burgess has remained involved in the build process to represent the Owner. 

Built for a forward-thinking Owner

 “The Owner is enthusiastic and forward thinking when it comes to his yachting needs and our team has worked closely with him and Damen Yachting to realise his vision. Taking the Amels Limited Editions platform as a superior baseline, the Owner has embellished the design in specific areas making the yacht a truly custom vessel,” says Sean Bianchi, Partner - Head of Burgess New Construction, Naval Architect.

Damen Yachting's Project Manager, Romke van der Linde explains what this milestone means for the yard and all those involved in the project. “This Owner is positive, driven and passionate and it is great that we can realise this dream for him and be at the forefront of shipbuilding. What we are creating incorporates over a century of yacht-building expertise and the experience gained from the Amels Limited Editions evolution – a process I have always been proud to be a part of. Today is a huge milestone in the history of our Amels Limited Editions. I can't wait for her to arrive in Vlissingen and watch her evolve into the special superyacht she is set to become."

The evolution of the Amels classics

We continue to evolve our products and, for many years, have perfected the Limited Editions superyachts and their various sizes and designs. With the classic Limited Edition designs still a firm favourite of many, the range increased in 2019 with the https://www.amelsyachting.com/portfolio/amels-60Amels 60 [https://www.amelsyachting.com/portfolio/amels-60] and now the largest Limited Editions yacht to date, the https://www.amelsyachting.com/portfolio/amels-80Amels 80 [https://www.amelsyachting.com/portfolio/amels-80].

In keeping with the Amels DNA, designer Espen Øino created a holistic and modern exterior design. A key factor of the next-generation design is that it features sustainable materials and innovative hybrid technology. 

“The Amels 80 is a design that will not age. Her modern strong lines will look as good in 10 years as the day she is delivered. She is everything and more that you would expect from an 80-metre yacht. There is a sense of scale, and nothing is wasted,” explains Espen Øino.

Neutral and natural interior

Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design is the design studio behind the first Amels 80’s custom interiors. In line with the Amels Limited Editions concept, the Amels 80’s Owner has utilised the semi-custom platform and opted for an interior with a personalised layer of loose furniture and decorative elements. 

“It’s a very neutral and natural palette,” explains Paul Costerus, Lead Designer at Sinot. “Materials are treated so that the natural characteristics remain as pure as possible.”

Other features on board the Amels 80 include an impressive 200-square-metre (2,153 sq ft) Sun Deck, a Waterside Beach Club which opens on three sides with a nearby Wellness and Spa, a dedicated Owner’s Deck and huge framed windows for panoramic views on the Main Deck. The yacht also houses a multitude of watercraft and toys and a helicopter landing area.

Our first Amels 80 makes a splash 

Six Amels superyachts will be on display at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show marking our highest number of showcases presented together at one show to date.

Headlining the line-up are the Amels 60 ENTOURAGE and the Amels 180 PAPA. In addition, visitors will also find the Amels 180 WERE DREAMS, the Amels 60 COME TOGETHER and the Full Custom CALYPSO at the show presented by their respective brokers. It is also understood that the Amels 212 VENTUM MARIS will also be showcased.
GENERATIONS OF AMELS LIMITED EDITIONS

PAPA, VENTUM MARIS and WERE DREAMS are fine examples of the market-leading Amels Limited Editions classics all bearing the signature exterior design of the legendary designer Tim Heywood. ENTOURAGE and COME TOGETHER are next-generation Amels 60 Limited Editions who exterior lines have been penned by renowned Monaco-based designer Espen Øino. 

 While all five yachts share a proven semi-custom technical platform and Damen Yachting naval architecture, each remains true to the Amels Limited Editions concept which allows for Owner customisation. Within this line-up, the individual qualities, unique identities and custom interiors can be clearly seen. For example, ENTOURAGE, with her hull and superstructure and custom interiors by Burdifilek, sports a seamless stream of glazing in comparison to her sistership COME TOGETHER, who stands out with her metallic Pebble Grey hull and signature angular windows. An even more unique Amels superyacht is the Full Custom CALYPSO which, while on show with her broker, will also illustrate Amels’ high standard for tailored design and first-class refit.

CUSTOM YACHT DESIGN

Measuring 58 metres in length, PINK SHADOW [https://www.damenyachting.com/fleet/pink-shadow] is another example of the recognisable Damen Yachting DNA and design. Inspired by the yard's heritage and character, the basis of the exterior design was fused with a style honed by Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture. For the custom interior, the Owner chose the UK-based studio Design Unlimited. 

Inside PINK SHADOW [https://www.damenyachting.com/fleet/pink-shadow] lie six luxurious staterooms for up to 12 guests, including a large suite for the Owner. Other standout features include a cabana-style bar and lounge, an infinity pool and a certified helideck. On the Sun Deck, the sky lounge and dining area lead to a Jacuzzi and the SeaXplorer’s signature bow-point observation lounge.

INNOVATIONS IN YACHTING

The latest SeaXplorer 58 features a number of conscious design choices, including a premium synthetic teak deck and wastewater tanks to grant the yacht access to zero-discharge zones of outstanding natural beauty.

The SeaXplorer 58 is a future-facing yacht for many reasons, and it is great to see her Owner on board making the most of such a capable platform. All of us here at Damen Yachting and Damen Yachting Antalya are immensely proud of this custom project,” says Rob Luijendijk, Director Sales at Damen Yachting. 

The Owner benefitted from quick delivery once the new superyacht was designed and engineered at Damen Yachting’s head office in the Netherlands. She is the first SeaXplorer constructed at Damen Yachting’s building facility in Antalya, Turkey.


THE BEST EXPLORER YACHT TOY STORE

PINK SHADOW’s arsenal of toys includes two large multi-role tenders, road and off-road vehicles, and motorcycles. Thanks to her ice-class hull and 30 days’ ocean-going autonomy, PINK SHADOW can safely sail to many remote destinations that are often unreachable for other vessels. To facilitate every journey and adventure, a crew of fifteen and two expedition staff are also accommodated on board.
